On January 15th, at 1656 hours the Rapid City Fire & Police Departments responded to a report of a large grass fire near E.Oakland & Merlot Dr. The fire department was able to quickly extinguish the flames and although they were in close proximity to several houses, none of the houses were threatened.
Working on several tips provided by residents of the neighborhood, the Rapid City Police Department identified two young juveniles as being responsible for the fire. The investigation into this fire is continuing and criminal charges are likely.
