As of 11 a.m., the Rapid City Police Department has issued a no travel advisory for Rapid City. Road conditions in town are deteriorating quickly. Visibility is currently about a quarter mile, and thick slush on the roads is causing vehicles to hydroplane. Numerous vehicles have been seen in the ditch on Catron Boulevard and Highway 16.
Snow is expected to continue throughout the day and evening, and roads are expected to get icy as the wet slush begins to freeze. Police will continue to evaluate road conditions as the storm continues, but the no travel advisory is in effect until further notice. Police thank Rapid City drivers for their cooperation.
