At 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 22, Rapid City Police responded to a report of a robbery outside of Best Buy. The caller reported that a male suspect had approached him in the parking lot, brandished a handgun, and stole his car.

Officers pursued the stolen Toyota Camry west on Interstate 90. Additional units from the South Dakota Highway Patrol and Meade County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the high speed pursuit, which ended at mile marker 32 when the suspect rolled his vehicle.

The suspect was transported to the hospital in Sturgis with non-life threatening injuries. The rollover accident is currently under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the robbery is under investigation by the Rapid City Police Department. Additional information, including the suspect’s name, will be released at a later time.
