Rapid City, S.D. – Investigators with the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office have identified the men found in Roosevelt Park on Saturday morning.
The man found in Roosevelt Park Pond has been identified as Eldred Red Fox, age 43 of Rapid City. Initial autopsy results are consistent with drowning.
Fire Department personnel first responded to Roosevelt Park at 5:45 a.m. on July 21, after a passerby spotted Red Fox in the water. Due to the condition of the body, it appeared that he had been in the water for several days.
As personnel left the scene, they discovered the body of a second man near the parking lot. He has been identified as Matthew Standing Crow, age 25 of Rapid City. Initial autopsy results are consistent with suicide by hanging.
Investigators do not believe the deaths are related, and no foul play is suspected. Toxicology results are pending on both men.
