Rapid City, S.D. –Rapid City Police are working to identify two people found dead in Roosevelt Park on Saturday morning. At this time, the deaths appear to be unrelated, and no foul play is suspected.
At 5:45 a.m. on July 21, a passerby spotted a body floating in Roosevelt Park Pond. The man was declared dead at the scene, and due to the condition of the body, it appears he may have been in the water for several days.
Fire Department personnel leaving the scene also discovered the body of a second man near the east parking lot. This appears to be a suicide by hanging.
The Rapid City Police Department is working to identify both men. More information will be released pending identification of the bodies, notification of their families, and autopsy results next week.
