Rapid City, S.D. – Law enforcement officers will be conducting Special Response Team training exercises at Robbinsdale Park on Thursday, May 24. Team members will be training from 9 a.m. – noon, and the exercises will not disrupt activity at the park.
During the training, residents and park visitors may see team members in full camouflage in the area, and should not be alarmed.
The Special Response Team is a joint operation of the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. The fully-integrated team includes several elements with various responsibilities, including crisis negotiators, entry team, sniper team, communication specialists, and paramedics. All Special Response Team members are trained to respond to high-risk incidents in Rapid City and western South Dakota.
