Rapid City, S.D. –The Rapid City Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across the state in May Mobilization efforts. From May 14-June 3, police will be conducting DUI saturation efforts, targeted seatbelt enforcement, and assisting other agencies with DUI checkpoints.
Intoxicated drivers continue to present a substantial risk to the general public throughout western South Dakota. The Rapid City Police Department remains committed to the identification and apprehension of intoxicated drivers. In 2011, Rapid City police made 845 DUI arrests.
May Mobilization is a nationwide effort coordinated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and spearheaded locally by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety. For more information, visit www.nhtsa.gov.
