At 10:30 p.m. on May 8, the Rapid City Police Department responded to the 100 block of East Philadelphia Street for a call of shots fired. When officers arrived they found two females with non-life threatening wounds from one gunshot. Charlotte Young, age 23, was shot in the leg and after being released from the hospital, was arrested for First Degree Burglary and a warrant for Felony Probation Revocation. Joseline Escalante, age 19, was also struck in the leg with the same bullet and is still at Rapid City Regional Hospital. According to the preliminary investigation, Miranda Dower, age 25, was holding a pistol during an altercation and the gun was discharged. This incident is still under investigation and no other charges have been made at this time.
First Degree Burglary is a Class Two Felony, punishable by up to 25 years imprisonment and a $50,000 fine.
