April 26 - RCPD, PCSO Investigating Homicide

Rapid City, S.D. –At 3:18 p.m. on April 26, Rapid City police were called to Walmart at 1200 N. Lacrosse St. for a report of a stabbing. An officer was on scene almost immediately, and found a 30-year-old female victim with multiple stab wounds in the parking lot.
The male suspect was still on scene and fled when officers arrived. Police and a South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper chased him north to the Days Inn at 1570 N. Lacrosse, where he locked himself in a bathroom. When law enforcement made entry, they found the suspect had self-inflicted stab wounds.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim’s name has not been released, as law enforcement are working to notify her family.
The suspect was also transported to the hospital, and is being detained by law enforcement. His condition is unknown at this time. The Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate; no additional information is available at this time.
