Rapid City, S.D. –Today Rapid City Police arrested a South Dakota School of Mines and Technology student after he left a threatening letter at the college.
Boyce Way, age 19 of Mitchell, was arrested for making a terrorist threat. The charge is a class 5 felony, punishable by up to five years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
An SDSMT employee found the letter around 8 a.m. today. Police were immediately called to conduct a threat assessment, and worked with school officials to identify the suspect. Way was taken into custody for questioning at 10:30 a.m., and police determined there was no further threat to the public at that time.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
