On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at 7:41 a.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of Elk Vale Road and Homestead Street. A 1994 Dodge van, driven by Keith Jahner of Rapid City, was northbound on Elk Vale Road and collided with a southbound vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Michelle Hagen of Box Elder. The Cavalier was making a left turn onto Homestead Street and turned in front of the Dodge van. The accident resulted in substantial damage to the Cavalier, and caused the van to roll onto its top.   Jahner, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured in the accident or ensuing rollover. There were four occupants in the Cavalier, all of whom were transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital by ambulance.  

 

The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier, Michelle Hagen, was cited for failing to yield when making a left turn. The accident was investigated by the Rapid City Police Department.
