On December 10th at about 5:23 pm the Rapid City Police Department responded to the area of the 600 block of Milwaukee Street for a car / pedestrian accident. An injured man was found on scene, along with a the driver of the vehicle. The injured man was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where he was treated, but later pronounced deceased. The deceased is a 51 year old Rapid City resident.

The driver of the vehicle is a 57 year old Rapid City resident. Both the driver and several witnesses were interviewed on scene and alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.

The Rapid City Police Department would like to remind motorists and pedestrians of the dangers of nighttime conditions. Motorists need to be mindful of reduced visibility, and pedestrians are encouraged to wear reflective material to aid in their safety.

The investigation is being conducted by the Rapid City Police, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and the Highway Patrol.
