Rapid City, S.D. – On Saturday, July 2, the Rapid City Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in conjunction with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and South Dakota Highway Patrol at the intersection of 5th Street and Saint Cloud Street.
278 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with officers making six arrests for driving under the influence. One of the six drivers was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and ingesting.
Over the Independence Day weekend, officers arrested a total of 15 drivers for DUI. The Rapid City Police Department remains committed to eradicating drinking and driving in our community.
