June 13 - Rapid City Teen Injured in Traffic Accident on Elk Vale Road

Rapid City, S.D. – At approximately 11 a.m., Rapid City police responded to a report of an injury accident on Elk Vale Road near Anamosa Street.

A semi truck carrying two 40-foot trailers was traveling south on Elk Vale Road when it was struck from behind by a 1997 Dodge Intrepid driven by Taylor Warren, 18, of Rapid City. The semi had been traveling at approximately 25 mph, and using its hazard lights to indicate the slower speed.

The impact of the collision trapped Warren in her vehicle. She was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries and cited for careless driving. The semi driver was also transported to RCRH with minor injuries.

The Rapid City Fire Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Box Elder Police Department and Pennington County Search and Rescue also responded to the scene.
