Rapid City, S.D. – The victim in the May 23 homicide case has been identified as Jada Jeunesse, 38, of Pine Ridge. Heidi Waloke, 29, of Rapid City, was arrested yesterday in the incident.

Jeunesse and Waloke were related, and well-known to each other. They were together at 1013 N. Lacrosse Street #A2 during the afternoon of May 22, and there are reports of conflict between the two throughout the day. Alcohol was involved.

During the early morning hours of May 23, the situation escalated to a physical confrontation. Jeunesse was stabbed at least three times, and received a fatal wound to the chest.

The call to 911 was delayed; an occupant of the residence called an acquaintance, who responded from the Southern Hills area. When the acquaintance arrived, he initiated the call to 911.

Jeunesse was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A weapon was recovered from the scene.

Heidi Waloke was arrested yesterday for homicide. The incident remains under investigation by the Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
