May 21 - Missing Child

On May 21, 2011 at approximately 3:20 p.m. the Rapid City Police Department responded to the area of S. Valley Dr. and Melody Ln. in reference to a missing child. It was reported that Trevor White Head was last seen in the area of Rapid Creek and it is unconfirmed if he entered the water.

A coordinated search effort involving the Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Fire Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Rapid City/Pennington County Dive Rescue Team, Pennington County Search and Rescue and the Rapid Valley Fire Department is under way. Anyone that has seen Trevor White Head since 3:20 p.m. or has information as to his whereabouts should contact the Emergency Services Communications Center at 394-4131.

Trevor is a 10 year old white male, approximately 4 foot 8 inches tall, about 90 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and blue sandals.

Authorities continue their search for a missing 10 year old boy, Trevor White Head. Trevor was reported missing at 3:20 pm in the area of S. Valley Dr. and Melody Ln.


With the dangerous water level, soft terrain along the creek banks and the concern for the safety of our search personnel, operations have been scaled back for the nighttime hours. Search personnel will continue monitoring the creek east of S. Valley Drive throughout the night. Plans are being made to bring in additional personnel early tomorrow morning to continue the search.

A press conference will be held at 09:00 a.m. on May 22, 2011 at the Rapid City Fire Department, 10 Main Street. Media is requested to be at the Rapid City Fire Department by 08:45 am.
