May 2, 2011 - Death Investigation

On May 1, 2011 at about 9:30 a.m., the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a body in Rapid Creek (southeast of Dakota Drive and Canyon Lake Drive).  Officers arrived and discovered a deceased adult male near the side of Rapid Creek in about 1 foot of water. 

At this time, the male subject remains unidentified.  He is described as a white male, approximately 25-35 years old, with short brown hair (dyed blue on top), a short brown goatee, and a tattoo of a cross (with wings) on his left forearm.  The subject also had another tribal type tattoo on his left shoulder.  He appears to be of average height and build.

This incident is being handled as a Death Investigation and the cause of death at this time is unknown.  The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy for the deceased is forthcoming.
