January 06, 2011 - Summerset Man Arrested in Prostitution Ring

Rapid City, S.D. – On Jan. 5 the Rapid City Police Department concluded a one-year joint investigation with South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigations, Summerset Police Department, and South Dakota Highway Patrol with the arrest of Jeramy R. Caron, 34, for three counts of pimping and two counts of hiring for sexual activity.
Police detectives were alerted to the operation by a citizen complaint, and an investigation uncovered the operation on the Internet. Caron was discovered soliciting prostitutes and arranging customers for prostitutes using the Internet. To date, six prostitutes from surrounding states have disclosed information on Caron’s operation.
Additional counts and charges are pending. Caron is currently being held at the Pennington County Jail with no bond.
Pimping is a Class 6 felony, with a maximum penalty of two years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine. Hiring for sexual activity is a Class 1 misdemeanor with a maximum $2,000 fine and/or one year in county jail.
