September 27, 2010 - Injury Accident on Catron Blvd.

On September 24, 2010 at 7:32 p.m., the Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Fire Department, and the SD Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash near the 2400 block of Catron Blvd. A westbound 1997 Toyota Corolla driven by Shahzad Janklow, 19, of Rapid City, crossed over the centerline where it struck an eastbound 1999 Ford Escort driven by Charity Logan, 39, of Rapid City.

Both Janklow and Logan were transported to Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Janklow has been charged with Driving Under the Influence and Minor Consuming. Other charges are pending at this time.

The crash is being investigated by the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT). FACT is a joint venture between the SD Highway Patrol, Pennington County Sherrifs Office, and the Rapid City Police Department. Members of FACT are specialists in the area of crash investigation and reconstruction.

Catron Blvd. was shut down to through traffic for several hours while the crash was investigated.
