September 16, 2010 - Fatality Accident Update

On September 16, 2010 at 6:10 a.m., the Rapid City Police Department and Rapid City Fire Department responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover crash near Elk Vale Road and E. Anamosa Street. The investigation determined a southbound 2000 Saturn, driven by Jeffery Phuntshok 25, of Rapid City, left the roadway and rolled several times. The crash occurred during the early morning hours but was not discovered until shortly after 6:00 a.m..
The investigation concluded that Phuntshok was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. Alcohol and speed are factors in this crash. The Rapid City Police Department wants to remind everyone to buckle up and don’t drink and drive.
