June 16, 2010 - Fairmont Blvd. Crash

On June 15, 2010 at approximately 9:25 p.m., the Rapid City Police Department and Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash near the 300 block of Fairmont Blvd. Two vehicles were reportedly drag racing eastbound on Fairmont Blvd. One of the vehicles, a 1996 Honda Civic, lost control at a high rate of speed, went off the roadway where it struck several objects and rolled. At least one of the individuals in the car was ejected when the vehicle rolled. The other vehicle involved left the scene. Investigators are working to identify the second vehicle and the driver of that car.
Three juveniles were transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
The Rapid City Police Department’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting the investigation.
