December 17, 2009 - Alcohol Compliance Check

During the evening hours of Wednesday, December 16, 2009 the Rapid City Police Department conducted compliance checks of alcohol establishments. A total of 12 establishments were checked, all of the establishments were found to be in compliance. Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor is a Class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail, a $500.00 fine or both. The following establishments were in compliance:
1. VFW - 420 Main. St.
2. Family Thrift Center - 855 Omaha St.
3. Parkway Restaurant - 312 East Blvd. N.
4. Chuck E Cheese - 30 Knollwood Dr.
5. Outback Steakhouse - 665 E. Disk Dr.
6. Jackpot Casino - 685 LaCrosse St.
7. Horseshoe Bar - 1407 ½ E. North St.
8. Poker Joe’s Casino - 211 Cambell St.
9. Happy Jack’s Casino - 1601 Cambell St.
10. The Lost Steer - 5412 S. Highway 16
11. Matador Casino - 2315 Mt. Rushmore Rd.
12. Sports Buzz - 2101 Mt. Rushmore Rd.
The Rapid City Police Department is committed to excellence in public safety. Protecting the youth in the community is a priority and we will continue to conduct compliance checks in efforts to reduce underage consumption of alcohol. Since January 1, 2009, a total of 11 alcohol establishments have failed alcohol compliance checks by selling to underage police informants.
