August 10, 2009 - Motorcycle Fatality

On August 8, 2009, at approximately 12:49 p.m. the Rapid City Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at I-90, Exit 57. The driver of a 2007 Harley Davidson was on the eastbound off ramp and failed to negotiate the curve heading to I-190. Once off of the paved surface, the driver lost control and was ejected off the motorcycle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver will be released, pending notification of family.
Eastbound Exit 57 was shut down for approximately one hour.
The Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Fire Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The RCPD Critical Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting this ongoing investigation.
