On August 1, 2009 the Rapid City Police Department in conjunction with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and 911 Communications conducted a DUI checkpoint in Rapid City. The checkpoints were located in the 1400 block of W. Main Street and Omaha Street.

The results of the checkpoints were:

1264 Cars checked in the checkpoint
13 Arrests made for Driving Under the Influence, 4 of those arrests were felony 3rd Offense DUI
1 Underage Consumption
2 Open Containers

Additionally, the RCPD would like to thank the many volunteers who contributed to this effort. The RCPD Cadets and RCPD Auxiliary assisted tremendously with this effort. Volunteers from MADD were also on scene assisting.
