July 14, 2009 - Citizen Survey
|
The Rapid City Police Department is in the process of surveying local citizens to measure their satisfaction with the Rapid City Police Department. They are utilizing a triennial quality assurance study to obtain this information. The quality assurance study serves as a customer-service report card. It tells the police department the following: overall agency performance, overall competence of agency employees, officers' attitudes and behavior toward citizens, community concern over safety and security within the agency's service area, and finally, recommendations and suggestions for improvements.
This year, the Rapid City Police Department is trying a new concept to gain information for this survey. The survey is available on the Department Website: http://www.rcgov.org/police/ by clicking the link icon on the website’s main page. This is a 30 question survey, which may be completed on-line, or by downloading a copy, which may then be mailed to the Department. Beginning this week, phone calls will be made to additional area residents with whom the Department has had contact within the past year. If contacted by the Department, the phone call process will take only a few minutes to complete.
The Department has hired a student intern, Chisolm McDonald, from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota to conduct the telephone contact portion of the surveys and to assist in compiling the report. Mr. McDonald is a Sturgis, SD resident and is working towards his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
The Police Department is asking for your assistance in completing the surveys and looks forward to hearing from the local residents.
