June 29, 2009 - Car / Motorcycle Crash - Mt. Rushmore Road

On 6/29/09 at approximately 4:01p.m. the Rapid City Police Department responded to a car / motorcycle accident in the 1500 block of Mt. Rushmore Road.
A 2009 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle driven by Darrell Farnsworth, 58, of Black Hawk, SD was struck by a passenger car which was exiting a private driveway. The motorcycle was northbound on Mt. Rushmore Road before the crash. The car, a 1998 Subaru Legacy, driven by Amanda Caillier, 30, of Sturgis, SD was pulling onto Mt. Rushmore Road to go northbound. Farnsworth was transported from the scene by ambulance and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Speed and alcohol are not factors in the accident. The driver of the passenger car was cited for Failure to Yield to Traffic from a Private Driveway.
