July 18, 2008 - Vehicle/Pedestrian Accident East Saint Joseph/East Saint Patrick

On 7-18-08, at 1622 hours, officers from the Rapid City Police Department responded west of the intersection of East Saint. Joseph Street and East Saint Patrick Street for a vehicle-pedestrian accident. 26-year-old Rachel Brown Bull of Rapid City was crossing East Saint Patrick Street from the south side of the road to the north when she was struck by a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville which was eastbound in the center turn lane. The vehicle was driven by 28-year-old Aaron Boerboom of Sturgis.
Ms. Brown Bull was thrown over the hood of the vehicle and landed in the westbound lanes of traffic. She sustained apparent minor injuries from the accident and was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Ms Brown Bull was not utilizing a designated crossing area and witness accounts indicated the driver had little time to react. Alcohol and excessive speed were not factors and no citations were issued to either party.
