On 06-06-08, at 11:53 p.m., the Rapid City Police Department responded to a car-pedestrian crash near the intersection of East Omaha and Cambell Street. The victim in this incident has been identified as Virgil Dog With Horns of Rapid City. Dog With Horns was pronounced dead at the scene. This investigation has determined Dog With Horns was already lying in the roadway when he was struck by a west bound Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by a 17-year-old juvenile also of Rapid City.  Drugs and alcohol are not factors relating to the driver of the Monte Carlo.

At this time it is unclear why Dog With Horns was in the roadway. On 06-01-08, Dog With Horns was struck by a train and taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital.  Additionally, there have been other reported incidents when Dog With Horns was found lying in the roadway.

The investigation of this incident is continuing.
