April 4, 2008 - Alcohol Compliance Check

During the evening hours of Thursday, April 3, 2008, the Rapid City Police Department conducted compliance checks of alcohol establishments. A total of 20 establishments were checked, 19 of the establishments were found to be in compliance and one of the establishments; Gas Depot (Fresh Start), 520 Birch Avenue sold alcohol to underage police informants. The seller, Andrea Lynn Thorn (20) of Rapid City was issued a court appearance citation and released. Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor is a Class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail, $500.00 fine or both. The following establishments were in compliance:

The Rapid City Police Department is committed to protecting the youth in the community and will continue to conduct compliance checks in an effort to reduce underage consumption of alcohol. Since January 1, 2008, a total of 12 alcohol establishments have failed alcohol compliance checks by selling to underage police informants.
