


The Rapid City Regional Airport Board is comprised of mayoral appointees, which are confirmed by the Rapid City Common Council. Board members serve 3 year terms, with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms. This is a voluntary appointment.
The Airport Board is a semi-autonomous board, which operates the Airport on behalf of the City of Rapid City. They are responsible for the general oversight of the airport. They have the ability to sign contracts on behalf of the City of Rapid City and authorize the expenditure of funds needed to operate the airport.

Dick McConnell, Vice-President

Architect - Retired
Dick is an architectural graduate of the University of Nebraska and a Vietnam veteran. He served as an engineer company commander with the Army Corps of Engineers. Following his Army career, he worked in cities along the front range of the Rocky Mountains pursuing his architectural profession.
He moved to Rapid City in 1978 from Cheyenne, Wyoming. Dick has served on various boards & civic organizations including The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, Cornerstone Rescue Mission Executive Board, and his local church board. He is an Honorary Commander at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

Dan is a native of Webster, South Dakota who, following a twenty-six year career in the Air Force chose to put down roots and raise his family here in Rapid City. He is an adjunct instructor in the Air Command and Staff College Online Master’s Program and Administrator for the South Dakota Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. He is an active member of the Rapid City Westside Kiwanis club.

Ron is a Rapid City native who for 25 years was the Washington, DC lobbyist for a major energy corporation before retiring and returning to Rapid City. He is also serves as co-president of the Dahl Arts Center Board, and also serves on the boards of the Rapid City Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund, and Black Hills Workshop Foundation.

Lisa moved to South Dakota from Southern California, in 1981. Her career has been in the Travel and Tourism Industry, serving in Administration for Black Hills Badlands and Lakes Association between 1983 and 1986. She was the Executive Director of the Spearfish Chamber of Commerce from 1986 to 1989. She is President of Modrick's Travel starting the business in 1993. She has achieved numerous Travel Industry, Sales and Service Awards. Her travels include various destinations around the world, hosts group travel and has sailed on over 50 cruises.
Lisa also serves on the Boards of the Rapid City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Rapid City Regional Hospital Advisory Council, Mount Rushmore Road Group, and is Past President of the Zonta Club of the Black Hills.

Cameron Humphres, Airport Executive Director

Cameron Humphres has a passion for aviation that began in childhood at an airshow he attended with his father. From that moment on, he was hooked onaviation setting his sights on becoming an Air Force pilot. Realizing hisgoals, Humphres spent 20 years in the Air Force culminating as a B-1 InstructorPilot and Weapon’s Officer. He has also earned a Bachelor’s degree inProfessional Aeronautics and a Master’s degree in Aviation BusinessAdministration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Cameron Humphres retired from the Air Force at Ellsworth AFB, his last dutyassignment. Wanting to stay in the Black Hills while continuing to pursue hisaviation passion, he decided to stay in Rapid City. Humphres nowfinds himself running Rapid City Regional Airport. Through his guidance, theprocess driven focus on the airport’s mission of “Safety, Security, andFinancial Health” has lead to a re-organization of the airport’s staffingstructure.
As a member of both the American Association of Airport Executives and AircraftOwners and Pilots Association, he is up to date on pending legislation andregulations that affects the aerospace industry. Humphres sits onthe Board of Directors of Black Hills Central Reservations, which createsvacation packages for the Black Hills region, and the Air Service Task Force,which focuses on improving the airline service to the region.
He enjoys the great outdoor opportunities of the Black Hills and spending timewith his three children waterskiing, paragliding, flying and hunting.
